Eurypylus
Role: king · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 1.7
In Apollodorus, Library 1.7, Eurypylus is listed among the sons of Eurythemis and Thestius. Library 2.7 gives another lineage, naming him “the king, Eurypylus, son of Poseidon by Astypalaea,” and identifies Chalciope as his daughter; it also says that Heracles, by Eubote, had Eurypylus. In Library 2.8, he is named among the sons of Temenus, alongside Agelaus and Callias, while Hyrnetho is favoured with her husband Deiphontes.
In that same account, after Temenus’s sons hired men to murder him, the army awarded the kingdom to Hyrnetho and Deiphontes. In the Epitome, Eurypylus is instead identified as the son of Telephus and arrives to fight for the Trojans, but is slain by Neoptolemus. He is also listed among the suitors of Penelope, one of those who came from Dulichium.
