Gods and Fighting Men

Espaid

Also known as: E spaid / Want · Family: Tuatha de Danaan · Role: son of Uar · First appears: The Fianna · Finn's Helpers · The Hound · Part 1

After Uar was killed by Caoilte in battle, his three sons, Aincel, Digbail and Espaid, demanded blood-fine from Finn. Finn refused, saying he would not pay for a man killed in battle. The brothers then inflicted continual harm on the Fianna as they sheltered at Slieve Mis.

At last, a blast of wind drove the three into the sea, where they struck one another on the head. “And that was the last that was seen of the three destroying sons of Uar, Aincel and Digbail and Espaid.”
