The Boy's Froissart

Earl of Oxford

Family: England · Role: knight · First appears: Book 1, Chapter 33

In Book 1, Chapter 33, Earl of Oxford was named among the knights appointed to serve under Earl of Derby on an expedition. The next morning at Bergerac, he and Earl of Pembroke carried the inhabitants’ plea for mercy to Derby. After Derby replied, “He who begs for mercy should have mercy shown him,” they returned with his answer, and the inhabitants surrendered and swore fealty to him for the King of England.

In Chapter 36, the English defeated the French army and rescued Auberoche; Earl of Oxford is named among the allies of Earl of Derby. In Chapter 53, when the King of England divided the army into three battalions, Oxford was assigned to the first, alongside Prince of Wales and other knights.
