Cycnus
Family: Greek mythology · Role: warrior · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 2.5
🌐 Also appears in: The Metamorphoses of Ovid (as Cycnus)
In Apollodorus’s Library 2.5, Cycnus is named as the son of Ares and Pyrene; in 2.7, he is instead called the son of Ares and Pelopia. In that account, he “challenged to single combat” Heracles, who slew him.
In the Epitome 3, Cycnus had Tenes and Hemithea by Proclia, and afterwards married Philonome. In the Epitome 7, he was among the suitors who courted Penelope, alongside Acarnan and Pseras.
