The Danish History, Books I–IX

Amund

Family: Norwegians · Role: king · First appears: Book Six · Part 3

In Book Six · Part 3, Amund refused Fridleif (son of Frode)’s marriage petition, saying Norway had long suffered under Frode’s tyranny, though his daughter Frogertha urged him to accept Fridleif. When Fridleif renewed his petition, Amund put the envoys to death. After learning of this, Fridleif sailed around Norway with Halfdan (son of Erik) and Biorn (champion of Fridleif), while Amund put out his fleet; the fleets gathered at Frokasund.

In Book Six · Part 4, Fridleif fought Amund in a bloody battle by sea and land. Amund fell in the war, and, as Book Six · Part 5 recounts, his death freed Fridleif from his foe.
