Hamor

Family: Shechem's family · Role: father · First appears: The Outrage At Shechem

Hamor is identified as the son of Haddakum and grandson of Pered. When Shechem asked him to obtain Dinah as a wife, Simon and Levi deceitfully agreed to the request while asking that Dinah be left alone until they consulted their father Isaac.

The next morning, Hamor and Shechem gathered the city’s men and were circumcised, along with Shechem’s brothers and the other males, at the sons of Jacob’s demand. In the evening of the second day, Haddakum and his brothers sought to kill Hamor, Shechem, and Dinah. Hamor and Shechem told Haddakum that they would attack the Hebrews after securing their request.
