Ottar
First appears: Book Seven · Part 6
In Book Seven · Part 6, Ottar, son of Ebb, desired to woo Sigrid. When he heard she was held in the mountain, he found her, slew the giant and carried her away; he later helped her escape from the woman of the woods.
In Book Seven · Part 7, Sigrid accepted Ottar as her husband after he abandoned the pretended marriage. Siwald (father of Sigrid and Sigar) seized him, believing he should be hanged for defiling Sigrid, but she explained how she had been carried away and restored Ottar to the king’s favour. In the battle between Siwald and Ragnald (rival of Yngwin), Ottar killed Ragnald and won a sudden victory for the Danes. Afterwards, Ottar and Starkad entered the service of Hakon (son of Hamund).
