Mabon

Mabon is a counsellor in Arthur’s host and the son of Modron. In Kilhwch and Olwen, he was taken from Modron when three nights old, and his whereabouts and survival became unknown: “He was taken from his mother when three nights old, and it is not known where he now is, nor whether he is living or dead.” His cousin Eidoel, the son of Aer, was identified as the one through whom he might be found.

At Gloucester, Gwrhyr Gwalstawd Iethoedd discovered that Mabon was imprisoned in a stone dungeon. During the battle, Kai broke through the wall and carried him away; Arthur then returned home with Mabon at liberty. Later, at the Severn, Mabon rode against Twrch Trwyth and seized his razor while Kyledyr Wyllt took the scissors.
