Twrch Trwyth
Also known as: the Boar · Family: unknown · Role: enchanted boar · First appears: KILHWCH AND OLWEN OR THE TWRCH TRWYTH 9
Twrch Trwyth, also known as the Boar, is an enchanted boar. At Esgeir Oervel, he wounded Menw with venom, leaving him permanently unwell: “he was never well from that day forward.”
At Cwm Kerwyn, Twrch Trwyth made a stand against Arthur’s forces, killing Gwarthegyd, Tarawc of Allt Clwyd, Rheidwn, and Iscovan Hael, then Gwydre, Garselit Wyddel, Glew, and Iscawn, though he was wounded in the second clash. The account also records him killing Kyflas, Gwilenhin, Hirpeissawg, Llygatrudd Emys, Gwrbothu, Huandaw, Gogigwr, Penpingon, Gwlydyn Saer, Madawc, Gwyn, and Eiryawn Penllorau.
During the pursuit, Twrch Llawin and Gwys were slain at Mynydd Amanw, while Twrch Trwyth killed Madawc, Gwyn, and Eiryawn Penllorau at Pelumyawc. In the Severn, Mabon took his razor and Kyledyr Wyllt his scissors; at Cornwall, Arthur’s forces obtained his comb and drove him into the sea.
