Also known as: lord Thomas Montacute earle of Salisburie · Family: England · Role: commander · First appears: Henry VI 1

In 1423, Thomas Montacute captured Sens, imprisoned William Marin, and killed its defending soldiers before moving into Champagne. He also served alongside John of Lancaster, Duke of Bedford and Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, who appointed him to command an army; at Pont Meulan he was accompanied by William de la Pole, Duke of Suffolk, Robert Scales, Lord Scales, Robert Poynings, Lord Poynings, and John Fastolf, and he was described as “a man both for policie and courage, liker to the old Romans than to men of his daies”. At Crauant, his forces opposed William Stewart, Earl of Buchan.

In 1427, Thomas was sent to France to replace Richard Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, landing at Calais with five thousand men. He was also an ally of John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, and later material names Alice Montagu, Countess of Salisbury as his only child and heir.
