Eogan

Also known as: Eogan mac Doorha / Eogan the son of Durthacht / Eogan, son of Durthacht / Eogan, the lord of Fernmay / the lord of Fernmay · Family: Ulstermen · Role: lord of Fernmay · First appears: Mac Datho's Boar · Part 1

In Mac Datho’s Boar, Eogan is identified as the son of Durthacht and as the lord of Fernmay; the assembled company names him as a rival of Ket.

In the Book of Leinster version of The Exile of the Sons of Usnach, Eogan came to Emain to make peace with Conor after a long enmity. He and Conor’s warriors were charged with killing Naisi, Ainnle and Ardan before they could reach the king. At the meadows around Emain, Eogan’s spear struck Naisi through the back; Fiacha, son of Fergus, died shielding him. Conor then gave Deirdre into Eogan’s hand for a year. In the Glenn Masain version, Conor later ordered Deirdre to leave him and spend time with Eogan; she leapt from her chariot onto the rocks and died.
