Esau
Also known as: Jacob's unnamed brother (Section 066) · Role: brother of Jacob · First appears: Jacob Arrives In Egypt
Jacob described fleeing to a strange land because of his brother Esau. Isaac’s account called Esau a “blemished issue,” while Gad referred to him as his father’s brother. Esau was the father of Eliphaz, king of Teman, and the grandfather of Zepho; Job was described as a grandson of Esau and a son-in-law of Jacob.
At Jacob’s burial in the Cave of Machpelah, Hushim struck Esau with a club, killing him during the dispute. Later, Esau’s sons defeated the sons of Seir in the desert of Paran, routing their allies; they then returned to Seir and killed its inhabitants, sparing fifty lads and maidens.
