Lord of St. Venant

Family: France · Role: marshal · First appears: Book 1, Chapter 44

Soon after Christmas in 1345, the Duke of Normandy, son of King Philip, ordered Lord of St. Venant and Lord of Montmorency to advance with the van. With Lord of Montmorency, he took Miraumont and Villefranche by force; at both places, most of the defenders were slain.

In Book 1, Chapter 65, King of France sent him and Lord of Beaujeu to inspect the passes and find a route to fight the English. After examining them, they reported that crossing was possible only “with infinite loss of men.” Later, in Chapter 78, Lord John de Landas and Lord Theobald de Bodenay left the Duke of Normandy, son of King John, in his care, asking him not to leave the Duke until they had reached safety.
