Hiorvard
Role: king · First appears: Elder Edda · The Lay of Helgi Hiorvard's Son · Part 1
In the Lay of Helgi Hiorvard's Son, Hiorvard is described as a king with four wives: Alfhild, whose son was Hedin; Særeid, whose son was Humlung; Sinriod, whose son was Hymling; and Sigrlinn. He vowed to marry the most beautiful woman he knew. After Svafnir refused his request for Sigrlinn’s hand, Atli (son of Idmund) returned home. At Svavaland, Atli (son of Idmund) killed Franmar and brought Sigrlinn and Alof away; Hiorvard then married Sigrlinn, while Atli (son of Idmund) married Alof.
Hiorvard and Sigrlinn had a son, Helgi Hiorvard's son, who was taciturn and had no fixed name. Hiorvard promised to provide him an army if he would avenge his mother’s father.
