Telamon
Also known as: Telamon son of Aeacus · Family: Argonauts · Role: hero · First appears: Book I 1
In Book I, Telamon, son of Aeacus, and his brother Peleus settled separately in exile after they killed their brother Phoeus: “After them came the sons of Aeacus, not both together, nor from the same spot”. At the Sacred Rock, Telamon joined Idas and Clytius in killing Basileus, Promeus, and Hyacinthus, with Telamon slaying Basileus.
In Book I 10, Telamon rushed upon Tiphys and rebuked Jason for leaving Heracles behind. He then apologized to Jason, saying, “But let me give my fault to the winds and let our hearts be joined as before,” and their friendship was restored. In Book III, he went with Jason and Augeias to Aeetes’ palace to negotiate for the golden fleece, under Hera’s protection; at daybreak, Aeetes gave Telamon and Aethalides the dragon’s teeth for Jason’s contest.
