In Genesis 38, Er is born to Judah and Shuah as Judah’s firstborn son and is the sibling of Onan. Judah takes Tamar as a wife for him, but Er is wicked in the sight of God, who slays him.

By Genesis 46, Er and Onan are reported dead in the land of Canaan.
