the little boy (Myth 3)
Role: the son of Kana'ti and Selu · First appears: Myth 3 · Kana'ti and Selu: The Origin of Game and Corn · Part 1
In Myth 3, the little boy lived at Pilot knob with his parents, Kana'ti and Selu. When the Wild Boy came out of the water and called himself the little boy’s elder brother, Kana'ti and Selu seized him and brought him home, keeping him there until they had tamed him.
A few days later, the brothers opened Kana'ti’s game enclosure, and the animals and birds escaped into the forest. Kana'ti released vermin onto the boys as punishment. In Part 2, after the boys accused Selu of witchcraft, they killed her. Corn sprang up where her blood fell, and the brothers watched it through the night until it was ripe in the morning. The Wild Boy also overheard Kana'ti’s plan and told his brother; together they trapped and killed nearly all the Wolves, and later gave strangers seven grains of corn and instructions for growing it.
After traveling east, the brothers found Kana'ti and agreed to travel with him. At a townhouse, lightning struck the cannibals, and the boys escaped. They later found Kana'ti and Selu sitting together beyond the sky, stayed with their parents for seven days, and went on to the Darkening land. When hunters later found no game, the people sent for the Thunder Boys in the far west; the brothers came to the townhouse and sang until deer emerged from the woods. Before returning to the Darkening land, they taught the people the seven songs used to call deer.
