Philemon
First appears: Philemon 1
In Philemon 1, Paul addresses Philemon as “our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,” and asks him for joy and refreshment in the Lord. Philemon is associated with Epaphras, Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, and Lucas as fellow workers or friends, while his love and faith are toward Jesus and all saints.
In the same chapter, Paul sends Onesimus back to Philemon for reception, asking him to receive Onesimus as his own. Onesimus’s status changes from servant to beloved brother, and Paul offers to assume responsibility for any debt Onesimus owes Philemon: “If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;”
