Delete your account
You can delete your rho.md cloud account at any time. Deletion covers the account itself and everything stored in the Service under it. Documents on your own devices are never touched — the Rho MD app is local-first, and your files stay yours.
1. Two ways to request deletion
In the app: open Settings › Cloud while signed in and choose Delete account…. You will be shown what is removed and asked to confirm.
Without the app: email privacy@rho.md from the address your account is registered under, with the subject "Delete my account". We schedule the deletion and confirm by reply. Requests from a different address cannot be honoured without verification, to protect you from someone else deleting your account.
2. What is deleted
- Your account and sign-in identity.
- Every document you published or shared through rho.md — they become unavailable to everyone immediately, and are permanently removed with the account.
- Your synced library and its encryption keys.
- Your collections, follows, stars, gravity data and reading history tied to your documents.
- Your subscription, if any — cancelled immediately without refund for the remaining period, in line with our Terms.
- Your @handle. It is retired permanently and cannot be registered again by anyone, so old links never point at someone else.
3. What is kept
- Copyright takedown records concerning your documents, with your contact details removed — we are required to retain evidence of how notices were handled.
- Aggregate, non-identifying statistics (for example daily active-device counts) that were never linked to your account.
- Copies in encrypted backups, which expire on a rolling basis after the deletion.
4. Timeline
Deletion takes effect in two steps. As soon as you request it, your account is marked and your published documents are hidden. You then have 30 days to change your mind: sign in to the app and choose Cancel deletion in Settings › Cloud (or email us). After 30 days the account and all data listed above are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. A cancelled subscription is not reinstated automatically — you can subscribe again if you cancel the deletion.
