the boy (Chapter 49)
Role: nephew · First appears: The Boy And The Corn
The old man brought the boy up in a solitary place. In the morning, while his uncle was away, the boy used the magic wand on the kettle, making it grow so large that he could not stop it before his uncle returned.
The boy insisted he could fetch corn from the dangerous place where it grew and set out despite his uncle’s fear that he would not return. After escaping the witches, he came home safely with plenty of corn and explained what had happened to the old man.
