Mochaomhog
Role: saint · First appears: The Gods · The Fate of the Children of Lir · Part 5
After the faith of Christ and blessed Patrick came into Ireland, Mochaomhog came to Inis Gluaire, where the children of Lir heard his bell. The next morning he invited Fionnuala, Aodh (son of Lir), Conn (son of Lir) and Fiachra (son of Lir) ashore, urging them to trust him, do good deeds and turn from their sins. They came to trust him, stayed at his dwelling-place and heard Mass with him.
Mochaomhog had a smith make bright silver chains, pairing Aodh (son of Lir) with Fionnuala and Conn (son of Lir) with Fiachra (son of Lir). When Lairgnen asked for the birds, Mochaomhog refused him. The children were then baptized, died and were buried as Fionnuala had wished: Fiachra (son of Lir) and Conn (son of Lir) at her sides, and Aodh (son of Lir) before her.
