Flidais

First appears: The Driving of the Cattle of Flidais · Literal Translation · Part 1

In Kerry, Flidais was the wife of Ailill Finn. She loved Fergus mac Rog because of the tales told about him, and sent messengers to him at the end of each week. When Fergus mac Rog and the other wounded men were at the castle, she threw her cloak over them and cared for them, undertaking their healing.

The Ulstermen killed Ailill Finn, destroyed the castle, and took Flidais with them. Afterward, by the decree of Ailill and Medb, she went to Fergus mac Rog. She supplied the men of Ireland from her cows’ produce each seventh day, then went with Fergus mac Rog to Mag Murthemni, where he received lordship over part of Ulster. After some time, Flidais died at Trag Bàli.
