Duke Albert
Also known as: Albert · Family: Hainault · Role: duke · First appears: Book 2, Chapter 6
In 1382, during the Ghent war, Duke Albert joined the Earl of Flanders and Duke Brabant in restricting supplies to Ghent. The Earl had persuaded them “to shut up their countries so effectually” that provisions could leave only secretly and at great risk.
Later that year, Albert met his council from Hainault at Tournay, including his bailiff, Sir Simon de Lalain, as councils gathered to consider peace. At the request of the lords and Duchess of Brabant, the Earl of Flanders gave terms of accommodation.
