two witnesses
Also known as: my two witnesses / two prophets · Role: prophetic witnesses · First appears: Revelation 11
In Revelation 11, God gives the two witnesses power to prophesy for a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth: “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.” When they finish their testimony at the great city, the beast makes war against them, overcomes them, and kills them.
After three days and an half, God restores their life, and they stand upon their feet. They then ascend to heaven in a cloud while their enemies watch: “And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.”
