Osseo
Role: husband · First appears: Osseo; or, the Son of the Evening Star · Part 1
Osseo was an old, poor man, scarcely able to walk, when Oweenee married him. Passing through a hollow log, he became a beautiful young man. The Spirit of the stars told him his enchantment was broken and his evil genius overcome, then called him to ascend and bring those he loved.
At the Evening Star, Osseo and Oweenee regained their youth and beauty. Osseo’s father explained that the wicked spirit had transformed them into decrepit old persons, and in time Oweenee gave birth to their son. When the boy’s arrow struck his younger aunt and dissolved the charm, Osseo and his family descended to an island, where they resumed their natural shapes as fairies.
