the woman (Tale 49)
Role: wife · First appears: Tale 49
In Tale 49, the woman lived with the man in a field where they planted corn and rice. When Ibwa came into their house, she took the headaxes and cut him in the doorway. Ibwa gave her one of the dead man’s ears to chew like betel-nut and tested the sign of her saliva; he changed her two breasts into one in the center of her chest, took her to his house, and said, “Now I am your husband.” Ibwa's second son and Ibwa's third son said they could not take him because she tried to kill them with the two headaxes when they went up into the house.
