Zenodorus
Role: landholder · First appears: Book I, Chapter 20
In Book I, Chapter 20, Zenodorus had hired the house of Lysanias and was associated with robbers in Trachonitis. Varro opposed him, clearing Trachonitis and seizing the land from Zenodorus: “Varro therefore made an expedition against them, and cleared the land of those men, and took it away from Zenodorus.” When Augustus learned of the robbers, he ordered their destruction.
After Zenodorus died, Augustus granted Herod (son of Antipater and Cypros) the land between Trachonitis and Galilee so that it would not again become a refuge for the robbers who had attacked Damascus.
