Hyllus
Family: Greek · Role: son of Hercules · First appears: Book 1 · Chapter 35
At The Gates of Temenus, the supposed corpse of Geryon was identified as “the dead body of Hyllus,” and Hyllus was described as a son of Earth. Another account says Hercules named his son Hyllus after the river Hyllus.
At Megara, Hyllus fought Echemus in single combat; the account says Echemus slew him and that Hyllus was buried there. A later account places their combat near the Isthmus of Corinth, where Echemus defeated and slew Hyllus as he led the returning Dorians. Another account of the Heraclidæ’s return also says Echemus beat him.
Later genealogies name Cleodæus as Hyllus’s son and Euæchme as his daughter. Andræmon and Hyllus are named as sons of Hercules by sisters of Thoas, making Thoas their elder-kin.
