Bokwewa's brother
Role: hunter · First appears: Bokwewa; or, the Humpback Magician
In Bokwewa; or, the Humpback Magician, Bokwewa taught his brother to hunt and made him an expert hunter. One day, despite Bokwewa’s objections, he set out to visit people and procure a wife. Finding the corpse of a beautiful young woman, he declared, “She shall be my wife!” He carried her back to Bokwewa, who restored her to life, and they lived happily for some time.
At last, he decided to search for his captive wife, though Bokwewa tried to dissuade him. He was overcome by the southern people’s flatteries and pleasures, abandoned the search, and was seen beating corn with their women while his wife remained in that Indian metropolis. Finding him past reclaiming, Bokwewa left him and disappeared forever.
