Plutarch's Lives

Hicetes

Family: Leontine · Role: ruler and general · First appears: Timoleon

Hicetes was one of Dion’s friends and took Arete and Aristomache into his house. He later seized them with Dion’s young son and “threw them all together into the sea alive.”

Hicetes openly joined the Carthaginians to help drive out Dionysius, and allied with Mamercus against Timoleon. When Mago and Hicetes came near Catana, Timoleon opposed them; not long after, he captured Hicetes and his son Eupolemus, who were executed as tyrants and traitors.
