Teucer
Also known as: the son of Telamon · Family: The Greeks · Role: contestant · First appears: Book IV · Part 2
In Book IV, Teucer, the son of Telamon, entered the footrace against Aias. He wrenched his left ankle near the finish, and Aias passed him to win; leeches treated the injury and soothed the pain. In Book IV, Teucer won the archery contest against Ajax son of Oileus and received the arms of Troilus.
In Book V, Teucer clasped his brother Ajax son of Telamon after his death and tried to follow him, but others restrained him. In Book V, Agamemnon promised that Tecmessa and Eurysaces would not be made thralls while either he or Teucer lived. In Book VI, Teucer joined Idomeneus, Thoas, Meriones, and Thrasymedes in rallying to defend the Atreus’ sons against Eurypylus son of Telephus.
In Book VIII, Agenor killed Teucer’s comrade Hippomenes, and Teucer’s shaft failed to strike Agenor. Teucer later slew Zechis in Book X and killed Menoetes with an arrow in Book XI.
