Goibniu

Also known as: Goibniu the Smith · Family: Tuatha de Danaan · Role: smith · First appears: The Gods · Lugh of the Long Hand · The Coming of Lugh · Part 2

Goibniu, the Smith, was the son of Tuirbe and one of three brothers living together at Druim na Teine, with Samthainn and Cian. At Grellach Dollaid, he and Lugh secretly planned for a full year with others to rise against the Fomor, waiting until their strength was ready.

At the battle of Magh Tuireadh, Ruadan wounded Goibniu with a spear, but Goibniu pulled it out and threw it back, killing him. Goibniu was healed in the well; while making spear-heads for the battle, he also sang spells over a spear-shaft so that anyone struck by it would burn like fire.
