The Wars of the Jews

Vologeses

Family: Parthians · Role: king of Parthia · First appears: Book VII, Chapter 5

As king of Parthia, Vologeses sent messengers to Titus at Zeugma around c. 70 with a gold crown celebrating Titus’s victory over the Jews; Titus accepted it, and feasted the messengers. Around c. 72, Epiphanes and Callinicus escaped their Roman enemies and crossed the Euphrates to seek refuge with Vologeses, where they were “not disregarded as fugitives” but received the same respect as before. At the same time, Paeorus, king of the country, had fled in fear to places difficult to reach.
