Iphinoe

First appears: The Catalogues of Women and Eoiae · Fragments 1–20

Iphinoe was the daughter of Proetus and Stheneboea, and a sister of Lysippe and Iphianassa. In the account of the daughters of Proetus, she and her sisters fell mad after refusing the rites of Dionysus. “Afterwards they were cured by Melampus, the son of Amythaon.” Believing they had become cows, they left their home in Argos.
