In Runo XXXI, Untamo threatened his brother Kalervo and vowed to slaughter his people and burn their houses. He then led an armed force against Kalervo, killed his people, and burned his house.

In Runo XXXV, Kalervo sent his son Kullervo to pay the taxes and land-dues, advising him, “Best it is for you to travel, Learning wisdom on the journey.” In the same runo, Kullervo’s sister is called Kalervo’s daughter. In Runo XXXVI, Kullervo was told that his father had died at home.
