the daughter of Monedo Kway
Role: daughter · First appears: Peeta Kway, the Foam-Woman
In “Peeta Kway, the Foam-Woman,” Monedo Kway feared her daughter would be carried off, so she put her in a box on the lake, tied by a long string to a stake on shore. Though the young man (Peeta Kway legend) wished to marry her, Monedo Kway refused: “No, indeed, my daughter shall never marry you.” Ishkwon Daimeka opened the box, took her into his lodge and married her.
After two or three years, a storm carried her back in the box to her mother’s lodge. The young man refused to marry her because she had been another man’s wife: “I shall never marry her.”
