History of the Kings of Britain

Cadwallader

Also known as: Elidwalda · Family: Britons · Role: king · First appears: Book XII 12–17

Cadwallader, also known as Elidwalda, succeeded his father Cadwalla as king. His mother was Penda’s sister, sharing the same father but a different mother. With his kingdom free from the pestilence, he sought Alan’s assistance in recovering his dominions, and Alan granted his request.

Later, Cadwallader urged Alan to send his son Ivor and his nephew Ini to govern the remaining Britons. He then went to Rome and was confirmed by Pope Sergius. In the six hundred and eighty-ninth year of the Lord’s incarnation, he died after a sudden illness and was admitted into the heavenly kingdom.
