Thermutis
Also known as: Bithiah / princess · Family: Egyptians · Role: Pharaoh's daughter · First appears: Moses Rescued From The Water
When Thermutis found Moses in the Nile, touching his ark brought her leprosy to an end. Moved by his and Aaron’s crying, she resolved to save him, and when Miriam brought Jochebed to nurse him, she entrusted the child to her care. At the end of two years, Jochebed brought Moses to the palace, where Thermutis named him Moses because she had drawn him from the water.
At court, Thermutis pretended for some time that she was pregnant so Moses could receive the treatment of a prince. She adopted him as her son and presented him to Pharaoh as heir to the kingdom. She was also known as Bithiah, a name given to her as “the daughter of God.” Later, she married Caleb.
