Gersíwaz
Family: Túrán · Role: hero · First appears: Kai-kobád · Part 1
In the Story of Saiáwush, Afrásiyáb sent Gersíwaz to propose peace to Saiáwush after his forces and Bármán’s were defeated at Balkh. Later, Afrásiyáb appointed his brother Gersíwaz to lead an army against Saiáwush. After the murder of Saiáwush, Afrásiyáb came to hate Gersíwaz and regret his violence.
In the Story of Byzun and Maníjeh, Afrásiyáb deputed Gersíwaz to seize Byzun and put him to death. When Byzun promised not to resist, Gersíwaz changed his plan and took him to Afrásiyáb; later he carried out Afrásiyáb’s order to chain Byzun and suspend him head-down in a pit. Gersíwaz also stripped Maníjeh of her garments and jewels and left her near the pit. In The Death of Afrásiyáb, Kai-khosráu ordered Gersíwaz and Afrásiyáb put to death in vengeance for Saiáwush.
