Orchomenus
Family: Arcadians · Role: son of Lycaon · First appears: Book 8 · Chapter 3
Orchomenus was a son of Lycaon; while Nyctimus succeeded to their father’s power, his brothers built cities where they chose. Orchomenus founded Methydrium on a high hill between the rivers Malœtas and Mylaon.
In the reign of Orchomenus, son of Minyas, the town took his name and its inhabitants became Orchomenians. He gave Hyettus, who had fled from Argos after killing Molurus, land around the village that came to bear Hyettus’s name and in the neighbouring district.
