Leopard (Tale 7)

Role: leopard · First appears: Tale 7 · Why White Ants Always Harm Man’s Property

In Tale 7 · Why White Ants Always Harm Man’s Property, Leopard and Wolf took Anansi’s antelope meat after frightening him into dropping it. Anansi tricked them into being hung on a tree, reclaimed the antelope, and mocked them with his family. The next morning, White Ant and his family destroyed the tree and freed Leopard and Wolf.

On the third day, Leopard and Wolf mistook Anansi’s disguised children for the ants and welcomed them with a feast. Soon after they left, Leopard and Wolf poured boiling water on the real ants, killing all but their father.
