King Viśvāmitra
Also known as: O king / Viśvāmitra · Role: the princess’s father · First appears: Chapter II
In Chapter II, King Viśvāmitra was the father of the princess whom King Mahāśakuni gave to Kuśa in marriage. After she rejected Kuśa over his appearance, her parents fetched her away. When she later recognized Kuśa and told her father who he was, Viśvāmitra agreed: “Go to him then, daughter, since that is so.”
In Chapter XVI, Viśvāmitra’s wife gave birth to Viśvaṇtara. After Viśvaṇtara gave the elephant Rājyavardhana to Brahmans, Viśvāmitra ordered him to leave the country. Later, Viśvāmitra’s grandchildren Kṛishṇa and Jālinī were brought to the city by the Brahman who had received them; Viśvāmitra summoned them. After King Viśvāmitra died, Viśvaṇtara returned and was installed as king.
