John Boucmel

Family: France · Role: squire · First appears: Book 2, Chapter 2, part 1/2

At Château Josselin, John Boucmel, a French squire and the closest and most-loved squire of John de Bourbon, had previously served in the garrison at Valogne with Sir William des Bordes and joined his expedition against Cherbourg. He and Nicholas Clifford had often argued over a tilting-match; before leaving, Nicholas agreed to meet him, and when they met at Château Josselin, Nicholas struck Boucmel in the neck with his spear and killed him.

The constable absolved Nicholas Clifford of responsibility, saying, “I acquit you of it, for it was no fault of yours.”
