Phalaka
Role: hunter · First appears: Chapter V
In Chapter V, Janmachitra rewarded Phalaka with the Amogha-chain after obtaining his parents’ consent; Janmachitra described Phalaka as “my refuge, my friend, and my kinsman.” Phalaka also went daily—morning, midday, and evening—to the Rishi of the hermitage near Janmachitra’s lake.
At the Brahmasabhā lake, on the fifteenth of the month, Phalaka used the chain to capture Manoharā as she went to bathe with five hundred Kinnarīs. About that time, he presented her to Sudhana, who took her to Hastināpura and gave Phalaka a splendid city.
