Gods and Fighting Men

Cuchulain

Family: Ulster · Role: fighter · First appears: The Gods · The Coming of the Tuatha de Danaan · The Fight with the Firbolgs · Part 2

At Cuchulain’s birth, Lugh was seen again in Ireland and kept watch over him during his three days’ sleep at the time of the War for the Bull of Cuailgne.

After killing Manannan’s great dog, Cuchulain stayed with Manannan, who was likely his teacher; Manannan taught him the use of the Gae Bulg. In the fight with Ferdiad, Ferdiad made “such a good fight against Cuchulain,” and Erc, son of Cairbre, gave him his death.
