Kárun
Family: Irán · Role: commander · First appears: Minúchihr · Part 2
Kárun, son of Kavah and brother of Kobád, was a leader in the Persian army. In the Story of Afrásiyáb marches against Nauder, he brought his army forward to avenge Kobád’s death, then pursued Bármán and killed him in single combat. Afterward, he joined Zál and co-operated with him; Zál also sent him with overtures to Zau, who accepted and took the throne.
In the Story of Kai-kobád, Kai-kobád assigned Kárun and Kishwád to the centre of the army, and Kárun killed Shimasás in combat. He had earlier been placed in charge of the army by Minúchihr, and later Kai-khosráu entrusted him with carrying an answer to Afrásiyáb.
