Eriphyle
Family: mortal · Role: victim of Alcmæon's murder · First appears: Book 1 · Chapter 34
At Oropus, Eriphyle was murdered by her son Alcmæon, an act that deprived him of honour with Amphiaraus and Amphilochus. Later, Alcmæon fled Argos after slaying his mother.
Eriphyle was also associated with the necklace originally given to Harmonia, which became known as Eriphyle’s after she received it as a gift from her husband. She was represented with her daughters Eurydice and Demonassa; one account also names Alcmena as her daughter.
