Sir Galihud
Also known as: Galihud · Family: Arthurian court · Role: knight · First appears: Book VII, Chapter XXVIII
Sir Galihud is a knight of the Arthurian court. In Book VII, Chapter XXVIII, he fought Sir Gareth as a rival after Sir Gareth defeated his brother, Sir Galihodin; seeking to avenge him, “Then Sir Galihud gat a spear to avenge his brother,” but Sir Gareth also bore him to the ground.
By Book IX, Chapter XXXV, Sir Galihud was among the companions of Sir Launcelot, Sir Ector, Sir Bors, Sir Bleoberis, Sir Blamore, Lucan the Butler, Sir Uwaine, Sir Lionel, and Galiodin. Together they swore to seek Sir Tristram and return him to King Arthur’s court or die, then departed the court and divided at a cross to continue the quest. Queen Guenever was his patron, and in Book XVIII he fought alongside Sir Lamorak, Sir Galihodin, and Sir Pelleas.
His relationship with Sir Launcelot later turned hostile: he was counted among those who bore great hate toward him, though another passage records Sir Launcelot serving Sir Galihud. In Book XX, Sir Launcelot made Sir Galihud Earl of Perigot.
