Iagoo
Role: Indian story-teller · First appears: Iagoo
In Iagoo’s boasts, one evening he claimed a single shot killed a swan, twenty brace of ducks, two loons and the great fish Moshkeenozha. He also boasted that a leaf he had found was large enough to clothe his wife and daughter; he was married to the wife of Iagoo and had the daughter of Iagoo.
On another occasion, Iagoo said he killed and skinned a deer, then carried its carcass while pursuing elks. One day, he related that he found his dogs asleep near Weeng, the Spirit of Sleep’s residence. He roused them but felt the power of sleep himself, and saw Weeng sitting on a tree branch in the form of a giant insect.
