Lucius Otho
Family: Otho family · Role: father of Otho · First appears: Otho 1
In Otho 1, Lucius Otho showed the courage to punish with death soldiers involved in an insurrection in Illyricum: “He had the courage to punish with death some soldiers in Illyricum”. He later recovered Claudius’s favour by revealing a plot against his life, after which the senate ordered a statue of him to be erected in the palace. Claudius advanced him to the dignity of a patrician and commended him in the highest terms.
Lucius Otho was dearly beloved by Tiberius, whom most people believed to be his father. With Albia Terentia, he had two sons, Lucius Titianus and a younger son called Otho, also named Marcus; he also had a daughter whom he contracted to Drusus Caesar (son of Germanicus) before she was of marriageable age.
